First pull start with the choke on (you can tell when i turn it off and the engine speeds up) I asked a few guys on the net who have done this job before what they think about the valve stems...we'll see.

Before shot of how much smoke the hr214 throws off
So I'll be tearing down the hr214 later in april, but i wanted to record this to show how much smoke it throws off during start-up. I'll definitely be replacing the rings on the gvc120, but i'm not sure if i should order the valve stems too. Here is the vid...

ReplyDeleteI just picked up a194 on CL with the same issue. 50/50 mix of gas/marvel mystery oil filled cylinder thru plug hole...let sit 15 minutes...pull starter to clear...replace plug...change oil (rotella t6 5w/40). Start engine...smoked plenty. Started next day...perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it worked for you mark, but if the engine had a mechanical issue before (ring wear, scored cylinder, valve stems worn) then Marvel Mystery Oil will not fix it, but will mask the symptoms for a while. There is no such thing as a mechanic in a can...
